The location of a young person’s residence, challenging transport connections, and long distances make it particularly difficult for young people living in sparsely populated areas to participate in traditional work trials or internships. Young people also face challenges in committing to activities and maintaining motivation in a digital environment. All of these factors can contribute to social exclusion and increased inequality. Remote guidance offers concrete solutions to the employment challenges faced by young people. It is also a flexible and accessible way to support young people in their transition to working life, regardless of where they live or where the workplace is located.

The guidance process progresses in three phases: planning, implementation, and conclusion. Each phase aims to ensure that the young person gains practical benefits from the experience and a clear direction toward employment, studies, or another suitable path forward. This remote guidance manual, developed in the AIMlearning project, provides companies and organizations offering remote work opportunities, as well as employment service professionals, with tips and advice to improve the quality and success of remote work trials or internships.

The purpose of the guide is to support the employment of young people under 29, particularly those living in sparsely populated areas, by helping them access work tasks in their own field. The model is built around a clear structure, a mentoring-oriented approach, and the smart use of digital tools. When technology supports guidance rather than slowing it down, the focus can remain on what truly matters: meeting and supporting the young person and helping them progress along their path.
